About

Hi, I’m Sarah, thanks for visiting my blog.

This is the story behind the Best of North Devon.

I have lived in North Devon all my life (save for 3 years in the East Midlands during my uni days) and I will likely live here for many years yet, perhaps even the rest of my life. Family, friends and a calming countryside environment are my natural habitat, and I have a lot of that right here.

But I don’t really know the area around me. Some of my good university friends are coming to stay with me in the summer for the first time, and my first thought was ‘what can I show them’? A natural thought, but one that is a little bit daunting when you realise you’re not sure you have a good answer.

I know there are lots of wonderful things around me and I have enjoyed the local area in my youth, but I have barely tickled the surface, let alone scratched it. But this is not a time to worry about entertaining; this is an opportunity to prepare, to find the best of North Devon to share with others.

So that’s what this blog is. It’s my diary of North Devon experiences as I look to find the best of what this beautiful part of the world has to offer, from food and drink to attractions and the great outdoors. I am searching high and low for the best experiences, with inspiration coming from locals. I will give you my honest opinion of it all, and if I don’t enjoy it I simply don’t write about it. I want to write about only the best, whether it’s the best chicken nuggets or the best fine dining.

If you’re here for the first time, thank you for visiting. I hope that you find some inspiration from my blogs, and if you decide to pay a wee visit to this area, that you’ll have a chunky list of things to do in North Devon.

If you have any ideas of things for me to try, I’d love to hear them! Please get in touch via the contact form.

Until then, enjoy.

Sarah
