Best for? A casual and comforting roast dinner, with a great location that is close to Barnstaple but still feels like you’re getting back to nature. There is always a choice of three different mains, two meat one veggie option.

The Thatched Inn, Abbotsham
Best for? Generous helpings of carvery meat, and the beef available both as rare and well done. Huge Yorkshire puddings.

Best for? An absolute bargain considering the quality and variety of carvery meats and sides available – just £8.95 at lunchtime, Monday to Saturday.
