Update 17.12.2025 – Thomas Carr @ The Olive Room became Thomas Carr 1873, but then sadly in 2022 he announced that the restaurant was closing. It looks like he has now relocated to Scarborough and is offering fine dining there instead.
The Olive Room in Ilfracombe is the jewel in North Devon’s foodie crown. Thomas Carr’s culinary genius is guaranteed to deliver a very special meal.

Good food, great location, amazing price – The Taw Restaurant at Petroc College may be run by students, but you wouldn’t know from the experiences I’ve had.
Update 17.12.2025 – sadly the Chichester Arms closed in October 2025 as the company running it became insolvent. The plan is that this is temporary – everyone is hoping that someone new will come in and get the pub started again.
The Chichester Arms is all about good food and lots of it, and with a friendly pub atmosphere too. They might even do the best steak in North Devon.
